busy day ahead

Today is going to be a busy day at the bank as it is a public holiday Monday, so all of the local businesses will be needing to get extra change and will be wanting to offload all their cash before an extra busy weekend. Small seaside towns like the one I work in get really quiet in the winter, but always get busier on long weekends or in school holidays as lots of city people have shacks in small towns like these (shacks are like beach houses or holiday houses).

I am going to be working on treasury, for only the second time since starting my job at the bank which I am feeling a little anxious about because it is going to ve so busy. When you work on treasury, you are not only responsible for the money at your terminal, but also all of the money in the safe (so basically all of the money in the entire bank).

I am determined to keep my anxiety under control and to try and stop doubting everything I do. Afterall, I am more likely to make some kind of mistake if I am panicking or super anxious as these types of thoughts only get in the way of what I am supposed to be concentrating on. If I do start to get anxious, I plan to tell myself things like:
'I haven't made a mistake, i'm just being paranoid.'
'Even if I have made a mistake, worrying about it now wont make it go away.'
'Just breathe and this feeling will pass.'
'I need to believe in myself, I know what I am doing.'
There is one positive about it being a long weekend this weekend however. It means that the bank doesnt open next Monday so I get the day off, but still get paid. It will be nice to have the day off Monday as I have a busy weekend ahead. On Saturday I am working at the IGA and on Sunday I am going to an AFL Football game. My Team, the North Melbourne Kangeroos are playing in Hobart at Blundstone arena.

I dont finish work until 5:30 tonight so it will already be dark when I take the 40 minute drive home. The worst thing about driving on country roads at night in Australia is the wild life. It is very common for wildlife to get on the roads and if you are unfortunate enough to hit something, they often do a lot of damage to your car. I will never forget the first time I hit a kangeroo. I was driving my mums brand new car and for obvious reasons she wasn't very impressed as it damaged the car at the front.

I hope that everyone has a good Friday and that your weekends are also fantastic :)
