Day 7: Your 5 favourite songs

The following five songs alll mean something special to me;

1: Mean by Taylor Swift
This song was one of my fvourite songs when I was in my half recovered stage as it reminded me of my anorexia and it gave me hope that oneday I would overcome my eating disorder. If you listen to the words they are actually quite relevant...

2: Summer of 69 by Brian Adams
This song is  classic and I has always been a favourite of my whole families. I remember listening to this song at every family gathering or party and singing along with my loved ones. It is a bit like a family anthem for us.

3: The way it is by Lee Kernaghan
This country song reminds me of growing up on a farm and really highlights the connection I feel to the land and to the country. I love our country way of life and will always be a country girl, no matter where I end up.

4: Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson
This is anoyther recovery song of mine that really reminds me of my recovery I wrote a post on it a while a go that you can read here: http://fighting-anorexia.blogspot.com.au/search/label/recovery%20songs

5: Still the one by Shania Twain
Ever since I was a little girl, this is  the song that I hae always wanted to play at my wedding. I think it is a really beautiful song and I think that the words really desribe true love well and have influenced my ideas and beliefs about what true love actually means.

My recovery song

Most people have songs that they associate with various experiences throughout their lives and for me, the song that I relate to my recovery is Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson. If you read through the lyrics below I am sure you will be able to see why this song is so special to me as it sums up recovery so well. I hope the video works but if it doesn't here are the lyrics as well. :)

Grew up in a small town
And when the rain would fall down
I'd just stare out my window
Dreamin' of what could be
And if I'd end up happy
I would pray
Trying hard to reach out
But when I tried to speak out
Felt like no one could hear me
Wanted to belong here
But something felt so wrong here
So I pray
I could breakaway

I'll spread my wings, and I'll learn how to fly
I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky
And I'll make a wish
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway

Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget all the ones that I love
I'll take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway

Want to feel the warm breeze
Sleep under a palm tree
Feel the rush of the ocean
Get on board a fast train
Travel on a jet plane
Faraway
And breakaway

Want to feel the warm breeze
Sleep under a palm tree
Feel the rush of the ocean
Get on board a fast train
Travel on a jet plane
Faraway
And breakaway

I'll spread my wings, and I'll learn how to fly
I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky
And I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
I won't forget all the ones that I love
I gotta take a risk, take a chance, make a change
And breakaway

Buildings with a hundred floors
Swinging 'round revolvin' doors
Maybe I don't know where they take me
But gotta keep movin' on
Movin' on
Fly away
Breakaway

I'll spread my wings, and I'll learn how to fly
Though it's not easy to tell you goodbye
I gotta take a risk, take a chance, make a change
And breakaway

Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget the place I come from
I gotta take a risk, take a chance, make a change
And breakaway
Breakaway
