A huge part of my recovery has been about learning to believe in myself. In a way, writing my blog was a form of personal development for me in the earlier stages of my recovery as it was through motivating others to start believing in themselves, that I actually started doing it myself. In a way, it was kind of like 'faking it until I made it'. To begin with I didn't truly believe what I was saying, about being able to recover and love myself for who I was. But eventually, after saying it enough times and encouraging others to do it I started to truly believe it myself.
If you don't believe in yourself, recovery is almost impossible. You need to believe in yourself in order to fight your anorexia and beat it. Otherwise, chances are you will give into the demands of your anorexia and never get better. I truly believe that mindset is the most important thing when it comes to achieving anything at all, whether it be recovery or something else entirely. That is why I practice personal development, every single day.
Although I don't write on my blog so much anymore, I watch lots of motivations videos which I find so inspiring. I wish that I had known about these videos when I was trying to recover, as I think they would have really helped me to develop the mindset I needed to recover. They certainly helped me in my final stages of recovery and are continuing to improve my mindset and help me overcome obstacles and strive to reach my full potential, every single day.
Here are a few links to some motivational videos I like to watch as well as some of my favourite motivational quotes. If you would like to start practicing personal development, just type in 'motivational speech compilation' or 'motivational videos' and thousands come up! Seriously, give it a go. I promise you won't regret it! :) xx

I was diagnosed with Anorexia almost three years ago and have been battling it ever since. On my blog I share different experiences that I have had when I was really sick, as well as the progress I am now making as I try to recover. Since creating my blog I have never felt more motivated to recover and I hope that through writing about my recovery, I will be able to inspire people with eating disorders to fight for a happier and healthier life.

A busy few weeks
Over the last couple of weeks I have not had the time to write any blog posts as I have been so incredibely busy. Last week I had two days of work at McDonalds and the remainder of the week I spent studying for mid semester tests I had this week. It was actually mid semester break so I luckily didnt have any scheduled classes for the week however I still got lots of productive study done as was therefore well prepared for my tests.
Unlike this time 2 years ago when I was at university, I am now able to do other things as well as study without expeeiencing overwhelming guilt, remain happy and stay relatively anxiety free. For instance all last week I studied when I could, but also went to a daily gym class and spent time with my boyfriend in the evenings, when he finished work. I now understand that taking breaks from study is bot something to feel guilty about, infact finding a healtgy balance between study, work and the rest of your life is essential.
I also didnt spend that much time studying over last weekend as my family came to Launceston Saturday so I caught up with them for my birthday as well as fathers day. Also as Sunday was Fathers day, we went out for lunch with Nathans family. I still got a few really productive hours of study done each day over the weekend though and since I had already gotten a lot of productive study done the week before, I was feeling well lrepared for my tests and anxiety free.
It was my 22nd birthday on Monday however I was so busy it didnt really feel like ny birthday. I went to ny usyal early norni g Pupmp class and then just revised before I did my first mid semester exam at midday. The exam went really well and despite the fact I had not spent every second leading up to the exam studying, I was well prepared and feeling good. This just proved to me how important it is to keep a balanced life ALWAYS and that getting PRODUCTIVE study done is the key to success at university. I had a couple of hours to spare before I needed to be back at uni for a tutorial so I spent it working on an assignment that was due on the Friday of this week (today).
As soon as my tutorial finished, I made the hour and a half drive to Ringarooma to my boyfriends parents house. My boyfriend spoilt me with lots of birthday presents including new Asics shoes, a nutritional pro to make my morning shakes in, a gorgeous silver bracelet, chocolates and a bottle of bacardi which is the type of alcohol I drink (not that I drink very often). He also got me a card and wrote a beautiful letter inside, which almost made me cry it was so sweet.
Nathan didnt want me driving all the way to his house on my birthday however I didnt want him driving all the way to me as he had done so much driving over the days leading up to that, including that morning when he drove from my place to work.I didnt mind driving as long as I got to spend the night with Nathan and his mum cooked my favourite Tea for me, roast chicken with vegetables and pavlova and cream with berries for dessert!
I made my way back to Launceston early on Tuesday morning as I had to work for 3 hours at McDonalds and wanted to get a couple of hours study done before hand. After work, I decided to go to a gym class as there really wasnt much more study I could do before my second mid semester exam the following day. I had already prepared myself so well for the test it was really only a matter of reading through all of the notes I had already made. After the gym class I had Tea and then just revised for another hour or so before getting an early night.
I woke up at 6am the following mornjng and studied until 9, before making my way to the university to sit my mid year exam. Like my other exam, it went well and I felt as though I was as prepared as I possible could have been, despite the fact that I hadnt spent every second leading up to the exam studying. I had managed to stay happy and healthy while studying for my exams and still felt really well prepared which is a huge accomplishment for me, given my history of perfectionism and intensive studying which lead to me being completely miserable last time I was at uni.
After my exam Wednesday Inwas feeling really tired so instead of going to the gym like I had planned to, I just rested instead and worked on my assignment. I got another early night Wednesday night and felt incredible when I woke up on Thursday morning so I went to my usual early morning Attack gym class which was a great class as I had so much energy. After that I headed back to my place to my place and had breakfast before watching a lecture. After lunch I started doing some of the housework I had neglected to do in my study week and also did ny grocery shopping and put the finishing touches on my assignment which is now ready to submit. I Spent the evening with Nathan which was nice and now its Friday morning!
I have quite a big weekend coming up and this is already a long post so I think I will update you all on that early next week. I also aim to erite some recovery advice posts next week as I know I havent done this for a while now. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Xx

Living without regrets
Sometimes I find myself thinking about what my life would have been like if I had never developed my eating disorder or if I was never sick. To say my eating disorder has taken a lot away from me would be an understatement. Not only did it steal so much away from me as soon as I got sick, it literally took years away from my life.
Even though I often think of all the things I missed out on because of my illness, I know that I wouldn't change a single part of my journey so far, even if I could. Because if everything that has happened in my life so far hadn't happened, then I know I would not be where I am today.
Of course it would have been great to never have gone through the torture and pain of having an eating dosorder and also recovery. But then I know I wouldn't be as brave and strong as I am today and I would never have learnt to believe in myself and accept myself as I now do. I also wouldn't be able to use my own experiences to help others who are going through similar things to what I have been through.
The main reason I wouldn't change a single thing from my past is because I know I probably would never have met my boyfriend. Nathan is, without a doubt, the love of my life and I know that if anything in my past had been different, then chances are we would never have met and ended up together. So although my journey has been painful, lonely and plain terrible at times, for me being with Nathan now is worth every bit of that.

Just a little update
Yesterday was another positive and happy day for me which I am thankful for. The day started off very busy and hectic as I had to get all the kids I was babysitting off to school before I headed to work myself.
I was up at 5am with one of then as she had to travel back to boarding school in the city on the bus, so I ate breakfast with her and then headed for my walk with Tess as soon as she left. When I got back, I had to get all the other kids ready for school.
Once all the kids were picked up I had to head straight to work so that I wouldn't be late. I had a busy day at work which made the day pass quickly which was good. I was pretty tired by the time I got home from work so I just had some tea, walked Tess and then relaxed for the rest of the night.
Even though I have been quite tired lately, I am still feeling really happy, healthy and positive which is all I could ever ask for. I have realised that sometimes things happen in life that arent great, but we shouldnt let these things ruin our happiness. We just need to keep moving forward and enjoy life while we are here.
Today I am working at the bank again. I feel as though there is so much to do at work at the moment but I know I cant let myself get stressed out. I just need to keep a clear head and get it all done. I am just about to take Tess for a walk which I cant really be bothered doing to be honest. Having a snooze on the couch seems much more tempting.
I hope everyones week is going great. Enjoy your day :) x

Not everyday is great, but there is something great in every day
Something that I always try to remind myself, is that there is always something to be grateful for and that if you try really hard, you will always be able to find a bright side to almost every situation. For example, even though it is AFL grand final weekend and I have to work all weekend I am trying my hardest to stay positive.
After thinking about it for a while this morning, I realised that even though I have to work all weekend, there were still many positives about today that I can concentrate on;
1. Since it is the weekend, I get paid weekend rates which means I earn a lot more money
2. I finish work at 4:30 both today and tomorrow so wil have enough time to take tess for a nice walk after work each afternoon before Tea
3. I am working with my mum which will be good as I will be able to send a bit of time with her (it seems as though I haven't caught up with her for ages)
4. Since it is school holidays and also grand final day today, it is going to be busy so the day should go nice and fast
5. My boss is really nice so he will let us have the AFL grand final on to watch whilst we are working
6. It is supposed to be really hot today which is great as the shop wont be feezing cold like it usually is
7. I am healthy enough to do all of this extra work as once I would not have been capable of it
8. Although working so much can be a bit of a drag at the time, it will make me appreciate my time off when I finally do have it. I have already made plans for my best friend to come up and stay for he weekend on my next weekend off. :)
So as you can see, usually you can find positives in most situations and by concentrating on the positives instead of the negatives, you will be much happier for sure. Afterall, life is way to short to spend it unhappy and always concentrating on the negatives!
Some people may believe that you are born an optimistist or a pessimist and while this may be true, this does not mean youcan not change from one to the other if you work on it. I honestly believe that I have only become such an optimist since I have
started forcing myself to see the positives in every situation. Now, I seem to think positive most of the time and without even trying!
No matter what, I always have a smile on my face and try to bring some positivity into other peoples lives too, by always being polite and happy. I love being such an optimistic person now and highly encourage you to give it a go. It could help you in your recovery as well as just making your life happier and more positive :)

A positive attitude=a positive day
My day has been positive, yet again. I am so glad that I have been able to find 5 positive things about each day so far this week and t really is helping me to look on the brighter side of life. Todays Positives were;
A RELAXING MORING: This morning is the first morning that I havent had to get up early and go to work for almost two weeks so it was so nice just to relax for the morning. I still woke up earky and ate breakfast early but it was great that I didn't have to get ready to go anywhere.
PLL: I finally had a chance to watch some of my Pretty Little Liars. It is serioously one of the best tv series I have ever watched and it just seems to keep getting better and better. Apparently soem peoplehave allready found out who A is but I really dont want to spoil it for myself. I would rather just watch each episode in order!
WALKING TESS: It was quite sunny this morning so Tess and I enjoyed a nice long walk along the beach. A nice brisk walk always gets me feeling super energized and Tess even went for a swim as the water was lovely and calm.
GETTING EVERYTHING DONE: Even though today was supposed to be a full day off, I actually still worked for three hours tonight (from 3 until 6) as I needed to cover another workers shift for them. I didn't mind though as I had already gotten everything done at home that I wanted to do today. I vacuumed my house, tidied up as my unit was messy, did two loads of washing, walked Tess, cooked myself chicken rice and vegetable casserole for tea as well as having timejust to relax.
EMAILING: Over the last few days I have recieved heaps of emails and I was feeling quite stressed that I hadnt had much of a chance to answer them all. Afterall, any emails I receive I like to reply to as soon as possible so that I dont like to keep people waiting. Especially when people need support and/or advice. I replied to a lot of emails today though which is great. I just have a couple more to go that I will either reply to tonight or in the morning to those.

My day
It is not hard to find five positives from my day today as overall I have had anouther great day. Feeling so happy and healthy all the time really is fantastic but I cant help but worry a little bit that it is all going to eventually come to an end. I know that I shouldn't waste time worrying about this though. I know I just need to make the most of feeling so positive at the moment and worry about feeling down, when and if it happens.
Positive 1: I worked at the supermarket today and it was no where near as cold as it was on the weekend when I worked. Instead of being 9 degrees when we got to work this morning, it was allready 12 degrees and throughout the day it increased to 16 degrees.
positive 2: I worked with my mum and we got along really well which was great. I barely ever see my mum anymore as we are both so busy with work so it was nice to spend a bit of time with her and have a chat. Even if it was just between serving customers.
Positive 3: Tonight I had yoga which as always I really enjoyed. Tonight was my seventh night of doing the yoga and I think I am enjoying it more and more each week. While I am not getting more flexible (as I am already incredibely flexible) I can feel myself getting stronger and I am also getting more 'in tune' with my body as the weeks progress.
Positive 4: As I looked around the room at yoga tonight and saw that I was not the skinniest girl and that there were in fact lots of girls skinnier then me, I did not wish for a moment that I could be smaller then I curretly am. For the first time I could actually say that I accept the fact that there are people out there who are skinnier than me and I am completely ok with it.
Positive 5: I made myself a delicious dessert when I got home from yoga. It consisted of a banana, vanilla icecream and chocolate topping. I haven't had this combination is an extremely long time but it was so yummy! I will definetely be having it again soon!

Concentrating on the positives
If you had half a glass of water, would you say that the glass was half full or half empty? A few years ago, I would have definetely said that the glass was half empty. Now however, I have developed a more optimistic attitude and would instead consider the glass to be half full. I hightly reccommend that you try and become more optimistic as it really is easier to enjoy life and stay happy if you concentrate on all of the wonderful things in your life.
1. My skin is really good a the moment and all of my my old sores are starting to heal and all of my old scars are starting to fade. Ihavent actually had a new pimple or skin infection for ages :)
2. Whiel I was walking my dog this morning i called my sister annd had a lovely chat with her. I haven't talked to her for a few days so it was really nice to catch up with her. Hearing her orgeous voive really put me in a great mood.
3. Since one of the other Swansea girls was heading to Bicheno to work at the bank today, luckily I could get a lift with them so didn't need to drive myself which was a bonus. Each day I work at Bicheno I spend over an hour driving which usess quite a lot of fuel which is expensive.
4. I had a really good appetite all day today which meant tthat I really enjoyed each and every one of my meals. I also felt no guilt at all after eating any of my meals which is a fantastic feeling.
5. I had a really productive day at work today and got lots of work done. I found it easier to concentrate fully on my work then I usually do and I can feel myslef getting more confident and competent every single day.

5 positives from my day
It can be so easy to focus far too much on the negative things in life and forget about all the wonderful and positive things that happen. Since starting this challenge I have recognised that each day really does have many positives as well as a few negatives. But by focusing on the poitives, this really does help us to stay happy and healthy. Today, my 5 poitives were;
1. It wasnt as cold of this morning as it has been so there was no frost and the air was not as icy when I walked Tess.
2. I felt totally energized and had plenty of time so took Tess for a nice walk around the point this morning. The ocean looked calm and gorgeous!
3. The other women I work with at the bank was in a good mood today so we had a fun day. We had lots lots of laughs and got along well which was really nice.
4. I had one of my favourite chocolate bars for afternoon tea today, It was a raspberry Lemonade Marvelous Creations Chocolate Bar and I really enjoyed it.
5. I realised today just how much less obsessed with food I now am and I know that this is only because I am no longer denying myself of the food my body needs.

Another positive day
Today was a really good day and I really dont have anything negative to report, besides the fact that it was freezing it the shop where I was working. It was only 9 degrees celcius inside today when we arrived and the temperature peaked at about 12 degrees celcius this afternoon. Unfortunately there is no heating in the shop so it really does just turn into a huge icebox. But I am not really complaining, I say that being cold in winter makes us appreciate the warmer weather when iy comes :) And besides that, my day was fantastic. My 5 biggest positives would be;
1. I worked with my gorgeous cousin who I get along extremely well with. We have so much in common and can relate to one anoter really well. Even though she is five ears younger then me this does not stop us from getting along at all. We had lots of laughs and enjoyed one anothers compay.
2. I cooked myself a delicious tea of steak and vegetables. I have only eaten steak once in the last 3 years or so but tonight was the first time I have cooked it myself. Cooking meat like steak has made me really nervous in the past as it really needs to be cooked in some kind of fat for it to stay moist and tender. I was quite comfortable cooking my steak tonight after covering it in buter, salt and pepper and didn't feel anxious about eating it at all.
3. I finally got my new medication that the dermatologist prescribed for me from the pharmacy today so I am starting that today. I am hopeful that it will keep my skin healthy and acne free so that I no longer get skin infections. If it does this will allow me to stay happy and more confident.
4. I had a good nights sleep last night so have been beaming with energy all day. I woke up feeling refreshed and completely ready to start my day which I think is the most amazing feeling. Whenever I am tired I am much more likely to have a more negative attitude as well as more aorexic thoughts so I have really enjoyed feeling so good today.
5. I have got lots done tonight which is great as this means that I am ready and prepared for a whole new week of work. In the last 2 hours since finishing work I have taken my cousin home to her house, taken Tess for a walk, colleced sticks so that I could set my fire, cooked tea, ate tea, vaccuumed my house, washed up, tidied the kitchen and set my fire. Now all I need to do is have a shower and then I will be able to just sit back and relax for the rest of the night. :)

Not every day is good, but there is good in every day
Something that I truly believe is that no matter how hard things get or no matter how bad a day may seem, there will always be some postives that you can concentrate on if you really want to. I believe that by identifying what is positive about every day, this helps you to stay happy and also helps you to appreciate each and every day. Aferall, everyday really is a gift that we should be thankful for. And I think recovery is so much easier when you are happy and positive.
Sometimes I get down and start feeling negative and I know that this is because I am concentrating too much on the negatives and not enough on the positives. For the next week, I am going to list 5 positives from each day which I hope will help me to stay positive and happy. Life really is too short to spend it being unhappy. Feel free to comment the positive part of your day in the comments section of my post. I would love to hear about all of the wonderful things happening in your lives.
My five positives for today
1. Although the day started off cold, by lunch time it had warmed up beautifully and the sun was shining nice and brightly. Even though I was inside for most of the day, it was still quite pleasant when I walked Tess this afternoon which was a nice change.
2. Even though it was only 10 degrees in the shop this morning where I was working, I felt fine as I no longer suffer from the cold as I once did. In fact I probably felt the least cold out of everyoe working today.
3. Since I knocked off work at 4:30, I had enough time after work to walk Tess and then cook myself a yummy tea. I had baked chicken breast schnitzel, mashed pumpkin and potato with gravy and boiled vegetables. It was delicious!

5. I ate some really yummy snacks today that I really enjoyed and my anorexia didn't make me feel to guilty after eating them either which was even better. I have a real sweet tooth so I really enjoyed eating these delicious snacks today.
3 fresh Strawberries, 2 mini iced cupcakes and 1 frothy hot chocolate

Train yourself to be more positive
After writing my earlier post today, I decided to find some tips online, that can help you to become more positive. The site I found this tps at was; http://tinybuddha.com/blog/train-yourself-to-be-more-positive-in-5-steps/
Step One: Believe a Positive Attitude is a Choice
This step was hard to take at first. I thought that people were either positive or negative (and I was in the latter category). I used to blame my negativity on all kinds of outside forces—fate, experiences, parents, relationships—but never really stopped to think that I could choose to be positive.
Teaching myself that positivity is a choice has been one of the greatest things I’ve ever done for myself.
Now when I find myself in a bad situation, I know that it’s up to me to find the good, to be positive regardless of what’s happening around me. I no longer point fingers and place blame. I realize that everything happens how it happens, and it’s up to me to choose how I want to feel about it. I am in control of my attitude, and no one can take that away from me.
Step Two: Rid Your Life of Negativity
If you want to live a positive, joyful life, you cannot be surrounded by negative people who don’t encourage your happiness.
As a negative person, I attracted negative people. When I decided to make the change to live a more positive life, I had to rid my life of the most negative influences in it. No one is perfect—and perfection isn’t the goal when it comes to positivity—but there were people in my life who were consistently negative, who constantly brought me down, and I had to stop spending so much time with them.
This, as you can imagine, wasn’t easy. It can hurt to distance yourself from people—even when you know they aren’t good for you or your current lifestyle.
In addition to removing negative influences from my, I also had to get rid of some of my own negative behaviors, such as drug and alcohol abuse. I had to take a step back and examine which behaviors were good for me and which were not.
I learned to focus on the positive things I was doing—such as working on my blog and cultivating new, positive relationships—and let go of the negative ones. This process was not easy and, to be honest, is still ongoing, but I know this: It’s hard to live a positive life when negative people and behaviors continually pull you down.
Step Three: Look For the Positive in Life
In every person, in every situation, there is something good. Most of the time it’s not obvious. We have to look. And sometimes we have to look hard.
The old me was content to sit back and just glance around. If I saw negative, I went with that feeling. I didn’t want to look harder or think too much about the good. I found it much, much easier to sit back and just accept what I saw (which was usually the bad).
Now, when I’m faced with a difficult or challenging situation, I think to myself, “What is good about this?” No matter how terrible the situation might seem, I always can find something good if I take the time to think about it.
Everything—good and bad—is a learning experience so, at the very least, you can learn from bad experiences. However, there’s usually even more to it than that. If you really take the time to look, you will usually find something good, something genuinely positive, about every person or situation.
Step Four: Reinforce Positivity in Yourself
Once I started thinking more positively, I realized I had to reinforce these thoughts and behaviors in myself so they would stick. As with any sort of training, the more you practice, the better you get—and, yes, you can practice being positive.
The best and easiest way to do this is to be positive when it comes to who you are. Tell yourself you’re awesome. Tell yourself you look good. Tell yourself you did a great job at work or raising your kids or whatever it is you do.
Be honest with yourself, but do your best to look for the good. And, whatever you do, don’t focus on the negative. It’s okay to not like everything about yourself, but don’t focus on what you don’t like. We all have positive attributes, and it’s up to you to remind yourself of them every day.
Step Five: Share Positivity with Others
Not only do you need to be positive with yourself for this training to really take effect, but you need to be positive with others. You have to share your wealth of positivity with the world.
The best way I’ve found to do this is quite simple and basic: Be nice to other people, no matter what. Tell someone s/he looks nice today. Tell someone s/he did a great job on that presentation.
Tell your parents or children (or both!) how much you love them and how great they are. When someone is feeling down, do what you can to cheer him or her up. Send flowers. Write notes. Don’t gossip. Be kind to all living things.
All of these things sound basic enough, but for someone like me, they didn’t come easily.
I never wanted to see the good in myself and, therefore, didn’t want to see it in others either. I used to be critical and condescending. Now I strive to be encouraging and supportive.
I try not only to treat others as I would like to be treated, but I also try to consider how they would like to be treated. People appreciate positivity, and the more you share it with others, the more you are practicing it your own life.
When you start feeling like the idea of being a positive person is daunting, remind yourself that all it takes is one small step in the right direction to move yourself toward a more positive attitude.
Believe in yourself and remember the most important lesson of all: A positive outlook is a choice that you can always make.
Trying to be positive
Sometimes it is easier to see the negative side of a s situation and a little harder to see the posiives, especially if you are a pessimist which is what I used to be. Something that I have learnt through my illness is that life really is too short to always look at things negatively, so I have started to try and look for the positives in every situation, as more often than not there will be some.
A simple example of this for me is winter. I generally hate cold weather. I dont particularly enjoy the way the icy air stings my face when I walk Tess early of morning and I hate feeling cold. I hate it when it gets dark so early and there are fewer hours of daylight. I hate not being able to do the fun summer activities that I enjoy like spending time outdoors, camping, swimming and sunbaking.
However there are some things I do like about winter which I try to concentrate on when I start thinking about these negative things. I love sitting in front of the wood fire on a cold day and bloggin or watchin tv. I love the feeling of stepping into a warm house after being outside in the cold. I love roasting marshmallows on our families open fire when I visit them as well as drinking hot chocolate. I love the feeling of stepping into a hot shower or snuggling into bed of a night when it is cold.
After making an effort to look for the positives in every situation for a while now, I feel so much happier in myself and also love making other people see the positives in order to cheer them up as well. Now, I would no longer call myelf a pessimist, but instead an optimist as I generally find myself thinking about the poitives in a situation rather the the negatives without even trying.

Some things, like my illness seem to have far more negatives associated with it but when I thoug hreall hard, i found that even my anorexia had some positives. These iclude the strength have gained through being sick as well but more specifically in my recovery. I think that I always had the same amount of bravery aand stregth, itjust took having to overcome something as difficult as my anorexia to truly realise just how strong I could be. After getting through the worst of my illness, I now know that I am strong enough to get through anything life throws at me.
Something else that I think is a positive is the fact that I now have my blog, which is my place where I can express myself as well as try and help other people to deal with and recover from their eating disorders. If I hadn't lived through anorexia myself, then I wouldn't have the experience to be able to give other suffferers advice on how they can get well and I wouldn't be able to show them that recovery from an eating disorder is possible and also that it is worth all the pain that is associated with recovery. I also would never have met some of the lovely people who I talk to via email or my blog.
So if you are a pessimist, who generally sees the negative side of a situation, make a conscious effort to see the positives too. Life really is more wonderful when you can look at the positive things and if you do this for long eough, you may even be able to train your self to be a optimist, like I have been able to do.

Challenging negative thoughts
Whether you suffer from an eating disorder, anxiety, depression, poor self esteem or all of the above, chances are it is the result of you having irrational negative thougts. In order to overcome these types of illnesses, we need to start challenging these negative thoughts in order for us to change them to more positive ones. I found the following tips from this website very helpful.
Whenever you become aware you’re feeling depressed, angry, anxious or upset, use this as your signal to stop and reflect on your thoughts. Use your feelings as your cue to reflect on your thinking.
A good way to test the accuracy of your thoughts might be to ask yourself some challenging question. These questions will help you to check out your self-talk to see whether your current view is reasonable.
Challenging questions
There are four main types of challenging questions to ask yourself:
1. Reality testing
What is my evidence for and against my thinking?
Am I jumping to negative conclusions?
How can I find out if my thoughts are actually true?
2. Look for alternative explanations
Are there any other ways that I could look at this situation?
What else could this mean?
If I were being positive, how would I perceive this situation?
3. Putting it in perspective
What is the best thing that could happen?
Is there anything good about this situation?
Will this matter in five years’ time?
4. Using goal-directed thinking
Is this way of thinking helping me to achieve my goals?
What can I do that will help me solve the problem?
Is there something I can learn from this situation, to help me do it better next time?
Recognising that your current way of thinking might be self-defeating (i.e. it doesn't make you feel good or help you to get what you want) can sometimes motivate you to look at things from a different perspective.
Changing the way you think about things may not be easy at first, but with time and practice, you will get better. Try it out - it's worth the effort. Let us know how you go.

If you tell yourself something often enough, you start to believe it
I honestly believe that if you start telling yourself something often enough, even if you do not truly believe what you are saying, that you will eventually start to believe it. This has been the case with me anyway. When I first started my blog, I would sometimes post things that I myself did not necessarily believe. For example I did not love my body at all and did not think for a moment that I would ever be able to accept my body at a healthy weight.
Despite this I still stresssed the importace of reaching and accepting a healthy and natural weight on my blog as I knew that it was the right thing to do and eventually, I actually started to believe that it was possible for me to do that. In fact, I believe that I am already achieving this as I am more accepting of my body now then I ever have been in my life and honestly do want to stay at a healthy weight now.
Positive self talk has helped me so much to achieve this and I highly reccommend that you try it if you are trying to recover. It may seen silly, as you basically have to talk to yourself but it has worked wonders for me. For example in the earier stages of recovery, if my anorexia said that I looked fatter or that I needed to lose weight, I would always think to myself something like 'No this is just my anorexia lying to me. I am not fat, in fact I need to gain weight.'
At the time, this was not the way I was actualy feeling. It was just the way I knew I should be feeling. Now however these types of thoughts really do come naturally to me as they are my true thoughts (what I actually believe). Through sharing the ways that we should feel about our bodies and ourselves so often on my blog and also using this type of positive self talk, I really have started to accept my body for the first time in my life.
I no longer just say that we 'should' appreciate our bodies for everything they do for us and that we should give them the energy they need. I actually believe this with all my heart. I also believe tht our appearance and weight do not define us and that there are many things that are so much more important. If you want to start honesty believign these types of things too, just tell them to yourself over and over agian and hopefully they will eventully become your real and natural thoughts.
Good luck! I hope that it works for you as much as it has worked for me!

A true inspiration
Over a month ago, I was contacted by a girl called Laura who wanted some advice about how to keep moving forward in her recovery. To begin with I was really worried about her as I could see how much she was struggling and didn't know if I would be able to help her. I gave her as much advice as I could but I knew that she would have to fight with everything she had in order to get through her difficulut situation and that is exactly what she did.
Over the last month Laura has shown so much bravery and strength and her recovery attitute has been completely transformed. Laura and I email one another everyday but I no longer only give her advice, but she gives me advice too. With Lauras permission, I want to share some advice that she emailed to me as I think it is such an important message that everyone should read. I certainly intend to keep thinking about recovery in the way that Laura has suggested. She said;
It is so hard to keep going, when everything is telling me to restrict, to loose a few lbs, however I know that this won't solve my problems, and I will only struggle more, as my body is not happy being a lower weight and I don't function as well. At the moment, my thought process is 'right now, I am able to live without thinking about food all the time, I want to socialise more, I am more comfortable around food, and I have energy to work and live my life, so if a higher BMI/weight is the price that I have to pay for that then so what.' It's not easy, but this type of thinking helps. I also find that I am less irritable and more positive and friendly like this, so that makes me happy and want to fight further. Keeping all these things in mind defiantly helps, so maybe you could do the same to help you adjust to your body now? Just a thought!
I find it unbelievable that this advice was written by the same person who contacted me just over a month ago with no idea how she could fight her anorexia. Even though it felt impossible she did it anyway which is exactly what everyone needs to do in order to recover. To all of those out there trying to recover but who feel as though recovery is too hard, be inspired by Laura. She is fighting her anorexia every day and is doing exactly what she needs to do in order to recover and you can too.
I am so incredibely proud of Laura for how far she has come in her recovery and have no doubt in my mind that she is going to beat her anorexia. I will never be able to thank Laura enough for her ongoing support and guidence and hope that we stay in touch well into the future.

Feeling positive
After a wonderful and relaxing weekend I am feeling completely ready to start a brand new week. I am not going to go to work today expecting for things to be horrible with my co-worker. Instead I am going to go with a completely open mind and just hope that this week things will be better then they were last week. Afterall, I know that if I go to work with a negative mindset, this will reflect on my work and make me feel miserable before anything even goes wrong. I know if I try my hardest to stay positive I will have a much better day!
I am feeling so much better in myself and I think that this is because I am no longer feeling as stressed about what is going on at home. I talked to my mum again yesterday when I visited my family and I think we are now all on the same page. She knows she has to try harder and I can see that she is really starting to try her best which is all I will ever ask of her. I feel a little bad now for getting angry at her as I remember what it feels like to feel as though recovery is impossible and to feel as though nobody understands.
From now on I will try my hardest to support her in everyway that I can. My mum actually said to me last night that now she is experiencing something simlar, she feels guilty for not supporting me when I was sick. My mum only ever got angry with me as she thought I was choosing to be anorexic but I think she can now finally see that I wasn't choosing at all. She can now see that recovery really did seem impossible to me and the only thing I thought I could do that wouldn't be unbarably painful was to continue to starve myself and to exercise.
I am happy with where I am at at the moment. I know I still have some more progress to make before I am fully recovered but I also know that I have done incredibely well over the last few months and made more progress then I ever thought was possible. So for the next week I am not going to set challenges for myself or concentrate on what I weigh but instead I just want to enjoy being healthy and being alive.
I will keep eating according to my meal plan of course and keep blogging but as for everything else, I want to give myself a week or so off, so I can simply just be happy. Afterall, that is why we are recovering in the frst place, so that we can enjoy life the way we all should and desere to.
I want to thank everyone (all my readers) for all of their support lately on blog and through email. I honestly dont know what I would do without you all. I received a lot more lovely comments and emails throughout the night that I will try and reply to asap. I hope that everyone has a wonderful week! :) Try you hardest to stay positive and wonderful things WILL happen!
